Volunteering with TRC:

As a community development organization that is focused on sustainability and empowering the community, TRC selects its volunteers carefully.  Since its founding, the organization has worked to ensure the project was not perceived by the community as a place of handouts and easy solutions.  By working with local stakeholders TRC has attempted to ensure the community understands that the project will only succeed if they are involved and working hard to make it a success.  As a result we ask all volunteers to uphold this attitude.  This means that visitors should not engage in giving individual children or other members of the community gifts or donations.  All donations in kind that we receive are distributed through the community in a fair manner.  Usually this means through the school or clinic, in a way that is in line with TRC’s mission and values.

Individuals looking to volunteer should come to learn as well as teach.  By sharing skills with each other we hope that our volunteers have an enthralling experience that they will never forget, as well as leave their stamp on the communities surrounding TRC.

How to Apply:

As TRC has many diverse projects and divisions, there is always a place for volunteers to contribute. Should you wish to volunteer with us please follow the following procedure:

  • Send us an email to bridget@icefcanada.org introducing yourself
    • Please attach a CV or give us any information regarding you past volunteer experience.  Though no experience is required to volunteer with TRC, this will help us find the most suitable tasks for your skills.
    • Let us know how long you are looking to stay at TRC and if you’ll be going touring and returning, or if it is a specific fixed time
      • how many are in your group?
      • where do you have specific interests?
      • Make sure you have a valid passport that does not expire within 6 months of the return date to your home country

Following receipt of your email, we will be sure to contact you and begin a dialogue about your visit.
